Puppy Linux is a an amazing operating system. It can do all Windows can do and more. It's free, small and very fast. It can be operated from a CD/DVD, flash card or a USB stick so you don't even have to install it to your hard drive. You can have your operating system and all of your files sitting on your key ring. Irfanview is a brilliant graphic viewer/converter. This is a totally free program that will allow you to view any graphic file and convert between them.It has to be seen to be believed.

Total Commander The best File Manager ever. This file manager will replace so many other programs. It will take you ages just to discover how many functions it can perform. Spend a bit of time exploring it, you will be amazed.

AVG a very good free virus program. This is a great piece of software, very easy to install and very powerful.

Zone Alarm is a Firewall application. If you connect to the Net you need some sort of protection from hackers. Zone Alarm is an excellent free program. It can offer you many addittional features if you upgrade to the PRO version for just a few $$$.

Mailwasher is a geat program that allows you to look at your email headers prior to downloading the entire message and attachments. You can then delete the messages on the server so undesirable spam and nasties never hit your system. The limited version is free however, for about $A30 you can register the full version. It's great.

iVisit is a great video conferencing program. It's free for conferences between two people. The + version can support up to seven people in the conference for approximately $USD40.

Skype is a brilliant telephony system. It allows you to have person to person or conference calls over the net for free. You can also make a call to a normal telephone at a very low cost, about $AUD0.03 cents per minute to the US and Britain.

Mozilla Firefox Browser is a very nice free WEB Browser. It is very secure and has been released as OpenSource.

Mozilla Thunderbird E-Mail Software is very similar to Outlook but I like it much better. Once again free and distributed as OpenSource.

Maxthon is another brilliant WEB browser. If you like internet explorer you will love this. Heaps of additional features with lots of security.

Tucows is a great site to acquire software. Most of the software is shareware but there is pleanty of freeware too. Enjoy.
